How long does the itinerary last and what activities are included?

At Icterus, we offer two types of trips: Expeditions and Exclusive Itineraries.

For Expeditions, the trips have set dates and the groups formed vary between 6 and 10 people. The advantage of this model is that the travel costs are divided among the participants, making the price more accessible. Additionally, you have the opportunity to meet new people who share the same interests. On these trips, the itinerary has a predetermined duration, as well as the included activities, providing a well-organized group experience.

Exclusive Itineraries are tailor-made for those seeking exclusivity and more dedicated time, especially for photography or specific interests. In this model, the itinerary is planned exclusively for you or your private group, and both the duration of the trip and the activities can be customized according to your preferences.

For any trip, we recommend a minimum of 3 nights and 4 days in the Pantanal, depending on the region to be visited, so you can make the most of this unique experience!

What is the best time to visit the Pantanal?

The best time to visit the Pantanal depends on what you're looking for! The Pantanal is amazing all year round, but the flood, ebb, and dry seasons completely transform the landscape and influence the itineraries. During the flood season, from December to March, the region comes alive with flooded landscapes and an abundance of aquatic birds. During the ebb season, from April to July, wildlife begins to concentrate in smaller areas, providing incredible sightings. During the dry season, from August to November, animals approach water sources, making this season perfect for wildlife safaris and wildlife observation.

For birdwatchers, species vary throughout the year due to migration periods. Some migratory species are only seen at specific times, such as during the flood or dry season. Therefore, if you have a target species in mind, it's essential to consult the best time to find it.

Is accommodation included in the package? What are the places like?

Yes, we can include accommodation in the package, always optimizing according to your itinerary and preferences. Today, we have more than 12 options of farm hotels and lodges in the Pantanal, all partners of Icterus, as well as a selection of urban hotels for those who need stays in the city.

We know exactly which accommodation matches your interest and itinerary, offering from simple and cozy places to luxury options or even more remote locations for those seeking a true immersion in the Pantanal nature.

Regardless of the choice, we guarantee that the accommodation will complement your experience, providing comfort and connection with the incredible Pantanal biome!

What equipment should I bring for the trip to the Pantanal?

A camera is not mandatory to enjoy the trip, but a good pair of binoculars can make all the difference. We recommend binoculars with 10x42 specification, ideal for observing birds and wildlife with quality.

Also, don't forget to bring:

  • Closed shoes, boot-type if possible, preferably comfortable and resistant, ideal for trails;
  • Insect repellent to avoid discomfort with insects;
  • Sunscreen to protect yourself during outdoor activities;
  • Light clothing in neutral colors, long sleeves, full-length pants in neutral colors (such as green, beige, or gray) for greater comfort and camouflage in nature;
  • Hat or cap, sunglasses, and reusable water bottle.

With these items, your experience in the Pantanal will be even more complete and comfortable!

Does Icterus provide transportation? How does the logistics work?

Within our itineraries, we offer different options to facilitate your arrival to the Pantanal. In Mato Grosso do Sul, you can choose from three airports:

  • Campo Grande
    More options of airlines and schedules.
  • Bonito
    Served by Gol and Azul.
  • Corumbá
    Flights only by Azul, departing from Campinas.

Although Icterus does not sell airline tickets, we are available to assist in the purchase process, guiding you in the best choice according to the contracted package.

Within the state, we can help in two ways:

  • Bus tickets: We offer guidance to purchase bus tickets.
  • Exclusive transfer: We can organize transportation from the airport to the final destination or, depending on the package, accompany you throughout the trip.

Our logistics are designed to ensure that your experience is comfortable, safe, and aligned with your needs!
